Of course, people will try to build control decks early on, which is actually a bit problematic, because building a control deck requires you to know what you have to answer. You can’t really do that before the format has taken some form. Another key question is what you can use as your win condition. Still, lets see what we can do.

Shadows over Innistrad, pt. 4 – The Mandatory Monored
Even if you are not planning on playing a monored deck, there’s a strong reason to build such a deck, because you are going to be playing against one. Interestingly enough, I didn’t see any Atarka Reds at GP Paris, but when rotation happens, we are going to be in a situation, where decks are going to need tuning in order to fight the red decks, so red is strong in the beginning.
Shadows over Innistrad Brews, pt. 3 – Monoblue
Due to GP Paris, I’ve been neglecting writing these, so here’s some ideas on how to maybe build a control deck.
GP Paris 2016 Report
I got back from Paris yesterday really late, but we’ll get to that eventually. As usual, its not only about playing, but its an experience. There’s a bunch of Finns that frequent these things and we always have fun, because we don’t take this too seriously.
Shadows over Innistrad Brews, pt. 2 – Arlinn Kord
Although decks are anything but straight-forward these days, I’m planning on doing just that here.

Shadows over Innistrad Brews, pt. 1 – Clues
Not many cards spoiled thusfar, so this is very much in the beginning stages, but reading through almost 300 cards and trying to figure those out is much harder than doing it step by step. So, what could we do with these three?

How to Build a Deck
A month of so back I lamented on how people don’t really design decks anymore, so I guess I have to do it myself.
Of course, I’m not a real expert on the subject, but I do have some experience on. Furthermore, I am quite experienced in the field of software development and teaching. These two disciplines are actually quite similar and use a lot of the same principles.
I’ll be using an example of current standard, which might not be very timeless, but it is a way to showcase the process (or at least a process, because there are obviously many ways to do stthis).
Oath of the Gatewatch Brews, pt. 7 – Jund
Today’s the release and as currently unemployed, I’ve had the time to think about what to play. The ideas are pretty endless, but the problem is that I won’t have access to everything today, so I’ve used what I have been able to trade for (and I’ll actually get some of the cards I’ve bought later today, because it pays to be close to a professional seller).
So, after a lot of consideration, I decided to have a test run with [scryfall]Goblin Dark-Dwellers[/scryfall].
Oath of the Gatewatch Brews, pt. 6 – Prowess
Not enough one-drops for either of these, but what can you do? They can’t really make more [scryfall]Monastery Swiftspear[/scryfall]s.
Oath of the Gatewatch Brews, pt. 5.5 – Three-Color Colorless
For whatever reason, I find the title funny, because it only makes sense to MtG players.
Anyway, the other day I made a couple of two-colored lists around the devoid mechanic. Later I realized I completely forgot about this card:

… which kind of makes things easier.
