Despite the domninace of the so-called Ramunap Red, there’s several interesting decks out there.
Starting with this one, that didn’t even make day two, but is just too cool to not mention.

No Ropecon Coverage This Year
I meant to put this up earlier but totally forgot. I’m not coming to Ropecon this year and thus there will be no photos or stories to share. At least from me. Since I have annually been one of the first photographers to post pictures I thought it would be decent to make this public.
In any case I hope you all have great time at Ropecon and get to play a lot of games!
The Vision for Your Game
The way I see it, roleplaying games should be about teamwork. We have a bunch of people around a table trying to come up with something cool. Now, real teams don’t have a hierarchy. This might feel like something preposterous or even down right blasphemous to some people, but not having a hierarchy doesn’t mean you can’t have different roles.
Ropecon 2017 -suositukset
Palasin juuri lomalta Kanadasta, joten en ole tätä ehtinyt tehdä, enkä ole itse asiassa tänä vuonna osallistumassakaan (ainakaan tällä tietoa), joten en ole hirveästi asiaa tutkinut, mutta en halunnut jättää tätä tekemättä (ja tätä itse asiassa vähän kyseltiinkin), joten tässä on: Tämän vuoden Ropecon-pöytäropesuositukset.
People I Met at GP Toronto
There aren’t GPs in Europe during my (rather long) summer vacation, so I decided to go to Canada instead. In many ways an interesting experience, but I’ll stick to talking about the GP itself here. This was my 20th Grand Prix and as far as I remember, the first one since my second one where there weren’t plenty of other Finnish players who I already knew.
In fact, the only person I did know before hand, was Charlotte, a level three rules expert, who runs tha Ask a Magic Judge Tumblr. I know her from judging circles back in Finland, but she’s originally from Canada, so it was natural for her to be there for this event.
Anyhow, when you don’t travel in a group, you tend to mix more with different people, so I would like to talk about some of them.
My Commander Book
I’ve been silent here for a while (okay, about two weeks, but that’s quite a bit for me). The reason is that I decided to use my summer holiday (as a teacher, an extended one) to write a book on Commander.
Trying Out: Mansions of Madness
Mansions of Madness is one of the games I have avoided intentionally. I had a presumption about it being a dull game of overly complicated gaming system and too much fighting the Mythos. Luckily yesterday proved I was wrong. After visiting a few local caves with Santtu and Sami we headed to my place and I got to try out the second edition of Mansions of Madness by Fantasy Flight Games.
[DnD5e] Planning for the Campaign
I’ve been playing rpgs since ten and most of that time (24ish years) I have been a GM. And I have never ran Dungeons & Dragons. Sure, I started with ANKH that was in essence just a D&D clone in Finnish. But the actual grandfather of rpgs has been a bit of a boogieman for me. The Old School Renaissance introduced me to DCCRPG and most recently I tried out 5th edition while I participated in Out of the Abyss. But now I think I would like to try to run DnD5e.
In this post I share me ideas for my first campaign as well as my impression and thoughts on the subject of starting such a campaign and about DnD5e in general as a first timer.
My Favorite Sideboard Cards
Not the best or the most flexible ones, just the ones I enjoyed the most. Usually ones with weird interactions or ones that do something special in that specific deck. Basically just stuff I tried out.
Hearthstone and making epics great again
I want to share my view on Blizzard‘s Hearthstone in Summer 2017. In this post I assume You, the reader, know the game already so I won’t be explaining the core mechanics or any basic stuff. It’s free-to-play so just try the game and come back to read about it! Continue reading
