This is probably way too slow against various energy decks, but this is probably the kind of deck I would enjoy playing.
We didn’t get many Explorers in the new set, but some… Well. Okay. We got [scryfall]Jadelight Ranger[/scryfall].

[scryfall]Ghalta, Primal Hunger[/scryfall] was spoiled early (or was it leaked, not sure, it was shown to be a promo card of some sort anyhow). It has kind of a unique bonus, if you ramp through creatures, so let’s see what we can come up.
Big Red has always been one of my favorite archetypes. Ben Stark already showed us that it’s possible, but now we have new tools. The two that feels the best are [scryfall]Etali, Primal Storm[/scryfall] and [scryfall]Dire Fleet Daredevil[/scryfall]. There’s also, possibly, [scryfall]Rekindling Phoenix[/scryfall], if the metagame is right.
I’ve sort of being looking forward to this, but there’s a problem. There just isn’t anything that would make a pirates deck better. I mean, there’s a couple of really strong Pirates. I like [scryfall]Warsail Marauder[/scryfall] and [scryfall]Dire Fleet Daredevil[/scryfall], but they both have problems. The Marauder’s ability just doesn’t do much, if all creatures you control already have evasion, and Daredevil is of the wrong color.
In English:
Tetzimoc, Death Primordial
6
Legendary Creature – Elder Dinosaur
DeathtouchB, Reveal Tetzimoc, Death Primordial from your hand: Put a “Prey” counter on target creature. Only activate this ability during your turn.
When Tetzimoc, Death Primordial enters the battlefield, destroy all creatures with a “Prey” counter on them.
The first of this series of brews was actually a Grixis Reanimator, but when I wrote that one, we didn’t have [scryfall]Chart a Course[/scryfall] yet. So, let’s just cut red.
There’s these two:
1) Currently, the available lands provide a better manabase for shards than wedges.
2) I want to play [scryfall]Vraska, Relic Seeker[/scryfall]
3) I think [scryfall]Unlicensed Disintegration[/scryfall] is going to be pretty strong in a world full of dinosaurs
So, Jund it is.
Back in the day, a long, long time ago, [scryfall]Icy Manipulator[/scryfall] was a great card, because you could use it to force an opponent to play more than one threat, so you could gain value from [scryfall]Wrath of God[/scryfall]. These days the ole Icy is long gone, but we do have [scryfall]Gideon of the Trials[/scryfall] and now [scryfall]Thaumatic Compass[/scryfall].
All the double-faced cards in the set are kind of curious. They certainly have a high upside (as they are all rares), but the floor might be low as well. Is it worth it? I don’t really know. Let’s try this one…
