Just in case someone is interested (well, I am), here a listing of all the brews I wrote about in the site and how much they’ve been loaded thusfar. Of course, they are still being read actively, so this might change and some of them have been on the site way longer than others. I’m not going to go any deeper (like average readers per day), because that is also flawed in its own way and this is just for fun anyhow.

Getting Back to My Thesis – Adversarial Reasoning
There’s going to be a major change in my life at the start of the new year. I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do, but it seems probable that I’ll go back to school and finish my doctoral thesis. My graduate thesis was about a learning system that made recommendations on studies to students, so artificial intelligence is sort of my thing. I’m going to continue in that vain. However, its in the nature of advanced studies that I’ll have to go deeper this time. So, what do I know well enough to do a thesis on? Games.
Sensei’s Divining Shop
Who among us doesn’t dream at least a little bit about owning a hobby store? You know, the friendly Local Game Store you want everyone to want to come to find their games? Well, I’m sort of realizing that dream, although not really.
Sources of Inspiration
I was just at GP London and GP Prague (playing MtG, but this article is not about that) and since its my vacation time this year, I remained for a few more days in each city. Being a nerd, what did I do? I spent three days wondering through some of the museums and other places the towns so kindly offers.
Why Do I Play?
Aki just wrote about “Aging and Gaming” and since I was already going to write a post with this topic I might as well give it a go. Since my views and practices on gaming are pretty different from Aki’s this might just actually be at least a bit interesting. Continue reading
Aging and Gaming
When I was in gymnasium (or high school, or whatever you want to call it, secondary school anyhow) I was surprised to find out that according to the survey in Tales of the Reaching Moon (an excellent Glorantha zine from back in the day) the average age for the people who took part in it was 26. That felt ancient to me. I didn’t know any gamers of that age. Neither of my parents gamed outside of very casual games on Christmas and the whole hobby was still in its infancy, at least in our small town, so I might not have seen the whole picture, but that little stat blew my mind at the time.
The Binding of Isaac Review
Note: This is abouth the original, not the Rebirth, which I haven’t played.
This is a game that was taken down by Nintendo for having “questionable religious content”. Since Steam doesn’t have the same restrictions, it now has a new life.
The religious content? Well, remember the story where God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son? That’s known as Binding of Isaac. This game has the same starting point: Isaac’s Mom is asked by God to kill Isaac. Isaac, however, escapes through a hatch and fights back through the basement.
A Note on Angry Birds Transformers
I was supposed to write something for the new year. A short retrospective on last year and something about this year, but that’ll have to wait, because I need to think through what I want to say before I can go into that.
Instead, this. I’ve been playing some Angry Birds Transformers lately, and there’s something that bugs me.
Guild Redemund Holiday Gift Guide 2014
I know we’re a bit late on this, but it felt like a good idea, so here’s a short one anyway. Perhaps we’ll have one in good time next year. (No, we won’t.)
Note that we are not getting any money for any of the links. They might not be the best sources, but they were the ones I found first (well, in some cases they are the only sources). Anyhow, do your own research if you want the best deal.
My Kickstarter Experiences
After putting some money into The Dracula Dossier by Ken Hite (which you can – as of this writing – still back) Kickstarter informed me that this is in fact my tenth backed project. Seems like a nice round number to recount some of my experiences.
