I really like this card…
First question: Why not [scryfall]Ezuri, Renegade Leader[/scryfall] or [scryfall]Kamahl, Fist of Krosa[/scryfall] instead? Ezuri is easy. I don’t have to limit myself to elves. Kamahl is a bit more difficult. First answer is I have done Kamahl and Baru is something new. Second answer is that Baru can bring something quite unique to the table. Each of the ramp spells in your deck becomes a mini-[scryfall]Overrun[/scryfall]. Or in some cases something much, much more.
For whatever reason, this is a staple card in Commander. Quit it.
If you don’t know yet, the new rule in Commander is that if your commander would be moved to your library or your hand, you can put it into your commander zone instead. I understand where they are coming from and their heart is in the right place, but apparently no-one in the rules committee is much of a deck builder.
There was a request for my take on a [scryfall]Varolz, the Scar-Striped[/scryfall] EDH deck, and since I don’t get that many requests (except from Lauri), I thought “why not?” So, here’s my deck.
I’ve limited myself to three colors in EDH from the beginning (which was a little bit over two years ago). It just lets me use my resources more efficiently, as white and red aren’t very good colors. Sure, they have a limited set of good cards, but those aren’t really that fun for me, as I’m not as much of an asshole when playing EDH than I have a reputation for.
Anyhow, as there have been plenty of new planeswalkers in the last few sets in my color (BUG), I decided it might be time to make a planeswalker deck. Who to guide them into battle? [scryfall]Damia, Sage of Stone[/scryfall]. Not particular reason for choosing her over [scryfall]The Mimeoplasm[/scryfall] or [scryfall]Vorosh, the Hunter[/scryfall], except that she’s probably going to work best because of the card advantage she provides.
Complete Commander is a book by Bennie Smith about Commander, the multiplayer-singleton MtG format.
I guess one of these days I’ll have to review something I actually liked…
Last Wednesday we went to a family cabin of mine with the plan for alcohol, sauna and games. Good times!
I had originally thought of hosting something of a Kaiju-themed evening with King of Tokio and an AWhack called Monster Force Terra by James Mullen. As I was feeling a bit sick at the morning I decided to take The Regiment hack by John Harper instead as I knew it would more or less run itself with the guys I was going to the cabin anyway.
