I was out walking today. The total time I was out was about an hour and a half, maybe a little bit more. I didn’t actually get that much walking done (although, I walked enough), because I stopped several times to make notes on a problem I’ve been thinking about lately.
Its of the mathematical kind. Its nothing important and someone who does this more regularly would probably come up with a solution pretty quickly, but I still haven’t found one that satisfies me.
First of all, I’m not qualified to play, but as my business partner (of Sensei’s Divining Shop fame) and friend, Lauri, is, I decided to join him in testing. It doesn’t hurt that I live in Finland and the testing is going to happen in Spain… Also, I’m currently enjoying my sabbatical (in other words unemployed, with pretty good savings), so why not?
I can be fairly certain most people reading this are actually of the mindset that yes, roleplaying is art. Proving that is not my actual purpose. This is more about my musing on the matter, which hopefully bring a unique point of view on this.
Actually, in no specific order, just ten characters I enjoy the most or find the most intriguing.
Although I would like to espouse the benefits and the fun side of gaming as much as I can, sometimes I have to acknowledge there’s a dark side to this hobby.
Your (well, not actually your, but a human) brain is the most complex thing we know of. Its the pinnacle of evolution (thusfar) and it can work out things no computer can with ease.
Still, its so buggy, you’d want your money back, if you had paid anything for it.
After having toyed with the idea for a while, I think yes, but of course, its not quite that easy.
Once upon a time I lived at Rovaniemi and game mastered a campaign of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying game for a group of friends. That small group had grown into a quite large community and it is called Redemund’s Guild (hence the name of the this blog too). Two of those original founding fathers of our guild were the driving force behind a horror game called Alpha Polaris and the original play testing was done via our forums.
So now I’m extremely delighted to see that game going on Steam!
I don’t know why exactly I think about this stuff, but I do. My actual legal knowledge on these matters is very limited and probably somewhat antiquated, but I did do a course on IPR at the university (some 10 years ago).
