“What?”, you might be asking right now. Obviously, right now, I don’t really know what will be good when the set comes out, but what I can do is speculate. I mean, we do know the rest of the shocks are coming up, so that’s a start. It’ll give us the crucial [scryfall]Godless Shrine[/scryfall]. Actually, the shocks are going to enable a lot of decks. There are already GR-decks without [scryfall]Stomping Grounds[/scryfall].

Brawl Deck Time: Aryel
A 4/4 Vigilance for four mana is at least playable… sort of. And there’s quite a few knights available. I thought they were supposed to be rarer than soldiers?

Rivals of Ixalan Brews, pt. 6 – Midrange Vampires
What did we have before Rivals?
Yes, there are other good ones as well, like we saw during the Pro Tour in a monowhite aggressive deck, but we are going for a more midrangish version here, albeit with some synergies.

Modern Event Deck Review
As is the tradition (I guess third time makes it a tradition, right? Right?), I didn’t just look at the list of the Modern Event Deck, but went out and played it in a real environment.
I decided not to wait until the next time I had a chance to play in a Modern FNM. Since there’s a local bar that runs events every Monday, and it happened to be Modern this week, it was an easy decision to join. Its pretty much the same crowd I’d see in a Modern FNM in our town anyhow.
EDH Pauper Deck Time: Vizkopa Guildmage
Last time we played Pauper, there was a [scryfall]Vizkopa Guildmage[/scryfall] on the field. I had thought about using her as well, but didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes, so I didn’t. Still, this could be a truly repressive deck, so I thought I’d just design one, since this seems like an interesting choice for a general. However, this is Pauper and that means we don’t have that much room to maneuver.
