Somehow it feels like James Gunn is a true veteran director, but actually he has only directed six feature films in seventeen years. That’s not nothing and is in itself impressive (how many people have actually directed six features?).
This had been saved in my drafts for five years with just the title. However, I still do remember the original motivator for this piece.
Let’s start of with this: I hate the name elevated horror.
There’s a 90 minute video essay by CJ The X called Subjectivity In Art. At one point they have a discussion with Fantano (a well-known music YouTuber) on what is taste anyway. There’s a point there I found interesting.
As someone who still regularly goes to movies, I’ve seen things change recently.
I had plans for today, but I got a cramp in my leg despite imbibing plenty of liquids, so I returned to the AirBnB to nurse it, which lead to me writing this, because I wasn’t able to walk very much. Therefore, here I am, lying in bed, writing this. And don’t worry, the cramp does have a very strained connection to what I’m writing about here.
Can AIs be helpful for GMs? Yes, but not for very many things.

Really. Ten Years. I’m actually not even that surprised. I’ve always liked writing, so it was just natural that this would last.
Okay, here it is… with comments, because I just can’t shut up.
When I wrote the first version of this list, I was a bit down on the films of 2022, but given this much time and the opportunity to see more movies from last year, I have somewhat changed my mind. The movies I’ve liked from last year now extend well into the second page of search results on IMDb. With 50 movies par page, that’s pretty good.
