Well, I tried to resist the temptation, but couldn’t. So, [scryfall]Brain in a Jar[/scryfall]…
Essentially, this is a “fixed” version of [scryfall]Aether Vial[/scryfall] for spells. Vial is way too powerful. The amount of mana you can produce with it is absurd and giving everything flash is pretty much as absurd as well. The Jar can do similar things, but in a somewhat more awkward way. The mana produced isn’t as good and you need to play spells on a curve rather than just stick to a sweet point. Of course, the Jar does give a bit of leeway with the Scrying ability, but paying three for it is pretty bad, if you have anything else to do.
Still, instant speed [scryfall]Languish[/scryfall] can be quite devastating. Instant speed [scryfall]Duress[/scryfall] on opponents draw phase can be good as well. (Actually, not as sweet as it feels at first, but can be sweeter than sorcery speed anyway.)
