“What?”, you might be asking right now. Obviously, right now, I don’t really know what will be good when the set comes out, but what I can do is speculate. I mean, we do know the rest of the shocks are coming up, so that’s a start. It’ll give us the crucial [scryfall]Godless Shrine[/scryfall]. Actually, the shocks are going to enable a lot of decks. There are already GR-decks without [scryfall]Stomping Grounds[/scryfall].
I’m not expecting any more knights in the next set. There have been some previously, but Orzhov creatures are usually clerics and Azorius creatures are usually soldiers. Still, we have plenty to build on. Even [scryfall]Steel Leaf Champion[/scryfall] is a knight. On the other hand, there are some knights in Guilds of Ravnica, which might mean that they are pushing them as a theme. There was only a handful in both of the previous blocks.
However, I’ll start with these:
Throw in the best removal you can find from black and you are good to go.
[deck]
[creatures]
4 Dauntless Bodyguard
4 Knight of Grace
4 Knight of Malice
2 Cavalry Drillmaster
4 History of Benalia
4 Midnight Reaper
4 Valiant Knight
2 Vona, Butcher of Magan
[/creatures]
[spells]
3 Vraska’s Contempt
3 Dead Weight
2 Moment of Craving
[/spell]
[lands]
4 Isolated Chapel
4 Godless Shrine
5 Swamp
10 Plains
1 Field of Ruin
[/lands]
[/deck]
[scryfall]Benalish Marshall[/scryfall] might be a nice addition. We could possibly play it by taking out the [scryfall]Dauntless Bodyguard[/scryfall] in lieu of it and also exchange 4 Swamps for [scryfall]Orzhov Guildgate[/scryfall].
