Battle for Zendikar Brews, pt. 4 – Four Color Allies

We are probably only in the early stages of allies. There will probably be more coming later, but this is what I would do at this point. Not many choices actually, but what can you do?

Here are the ones I’m thinking of using.

There just aren’t enough creatures here for this kind of a deck, but we’ll try anyhow. Soon enough we’ll get some low drops to help the deck out. On the other hand, we don’t necessarily need to have all allies in our deck as the ally ability, Rally, does often affect all your creatures.

Blue is a bit awkward here, but [scryfall]Skyrider Elf[/scryfall] just seems to be very good. A potential early pressure which can be a bomb later on in the game, seems like a very good card with its flexibility. The problem is that there is no way you can cast it on the second turn in this deck, because all the lands come into play tapped.

The manabase is going to be problematic, so we’ll try to avoid using cards that require double of one color, with white being the exception due to Gideon. The math is pretty horrible. Of course you can always count all the ways you can get specific mana into play, but that won’t tell the whole story, because fetches aren’t very straightforward. [scryfall]Windswept Heath[/scryfall] can “produce” any color of mana in this deck, but after you get the [scryfall]Praerie Stream[/scryfall] with it, you have shut down the option to get green or red mana with it. You probably need to test this out thoroughly and plan out your fetching well.

I put in [scryfall]Frontier Bivouac[/scryfall] instead of [scryfall]Mystic Monastery[/scryfall] just so that you can use your fetches to get white mana more freely. The mana would probably work better if these were basics, because at least then you could fetch those first (always) and then the dual lands (tango lands) can come into play untapped as well. If this kind of a manabase was popular in the format, monocolored red decks could just take over.
