Fate Reforged Brews, pt. 2 – Tokens

Time to start brewing again.

Monowhite Tokens

In my neverending quest to find playable monocolored decks, here’s one idea.

valorousstancemonasterymentor

As the heading suggests, I’m going for tokens. Because the mentor wants to see noncreature spells, most of the tokens should be produced by noncreature spells, but I don’t think I’d go for [scryfall]Triplicate Spirits[/scryfall] or [scryfall]Take Up Arms[/scryfall].

[deck]
[creatures]
4 Monastery Mentor
4 Master of Pearls
4 Brimaz, King of Oreskos
2 Soul of Theros
1 Heliod, God of the Sun
1 Herald of Anafenza
[/creatures]
[spells]
4 Raise the Alarm
4 Valorous Stance
2 Elspeth, Sun’s Champion
3 Ajani Steadfast
2 Dictate of Heliod
2 Launch the Fleet
1 Spirit Bonds
1 Spear of Heliod
[/spells]
[lands]
25 Plains
[/lands]
[/deck]

This deck would be very vulnerable to all sorts of sweepers, but [scryfall]Valorous Stance[/scryfall] can help there. [scryfall]Monastery Mentor[/scryfall] seems to be the card of the set right now, as its already about 20 euros on MCM. I don’t think it will hold that kind of price as well as, say, [scryfall]Brimaz, King of Oreskos[/scryfall] has, but its going to be good. Althought, there’s a strong chance it won’t become popular simply because others cards will push it out.

Mardu Tokens

I’m giving [scryfall]Ankle Shanker[/scryfall] some love here. The combo needs plenty of mana, but its very good with [scryfall]Brutal Hordechief[/scryfall]. In fact, you might say its pretty brutal. Of course, you will never be able to really pull it off (because you’d need 10 mana to surprise your opponent), but its something you can think about.

brutalhordechiefhoodedassassin

[scryfall]Hooded Assassin[/scryfall] doesn’t seem like that much, but its going to be good in a token deck. Your opponents are generally going to block one of your tokens, but with this guy, you can make even that something your opponent might not be willing to do. Even the fear of being hit with one will often paralyze your opponents.

[deck]
[creatures]
2 Ankleshanker
3 Brutal Hordechief
4 Hooded Assassin
4 Butcher of the Horde
4 Goblin Rabblemaster
[/creatures]
[spells]
4 Raise the Alarm
4 Hordeling Outburst
4 Stoke the Flames
4 Lightning Strike
3 Murderous Cut
[/spells]
[lands]
4 Nomad Outpost
4 Caves of Koilos
4 Battlefield Forge
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Swamp
2 Mountain
1 Mana Confluence
2 Temple of Triumph
1 Temple of Malice
[/lands]
[/deck]

Maybe fit a [scryfall]Purphoros, God of the Forge[/scryfall] in there somehow, and maybe his Hammer as well.
