M15 and Monoblack Aggro

I’m going to be playing next weekend in the GP Utrecht. I don’t have any clue on what I’m going to be playing, and I’m leaving for Netherlands on Sunday, so I don’t have a lot of time to decide what to play. However, M15 did bring me something I think would make my monoblack deck stronger. It might be surprising, but its [scryfall]Crippling Blight[/scryfall].

Why a one mana common removal spell, that doesn’t even actually kill anything? Because the major problem I’ve had is blockers. Early [scryfall]Courser of Kruphix[/scryfall], or something will just wreck my game. However, if it can’t block… and only for one mana. Seems great to me.

Also, green seems to be a big thing right now. [scryfall]Nissa, Worldwaker[/scryfall] is a bit of problem, but it does bring plenty of other cards with it that are suspectible to things like [scryfall]Lifebane Zombie[/scryfall].

So, that’s a basis for a deck. What works well with those cards?

Well, my favorite card (although [scryfall]Dakra Mystic[/scryfall] is a strong second), [scryfall]Pain Seer[/scryfall]. If I can get rid of blockers with Crippling Blight, the Seer gets me more cards.

Otherwise, you don’t really need much beyond the obvious. Plenty of cheap creatures, [scryfall]Thoughtseize[/scryfall]s, and some more removal. That’s all.

[cardlist title=Suicide Black M15 version]
4 Tormented Hero
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Gnarled Scarhide
4 Pain Seer
4 Thrill-Kill Assassin
4 Lifebane Zombie
2 Mogis’s Marauder
4 THoughtseize
4 Crippling Blight
4 Ultimate Price
18 Swamp
4 Mutavault

An [scryfall]Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth[/scryfall] might be a good addition.

There’s a problem. Too many dead cards against U/W-control. However, I don’t expect that many of them… which might be a mistake. I’m planning on going below most of the midrange decks I expect to face.

[cardlist title=sideboard]
4 Dark Betrayal
4 Duress
4 Hero’s Downfall
3 Pharika’s Cure

A bit of straight forward sideboard. Betrayals for all the Monoblack Devotions, Duresses and Hero’s Downfalls for the Control decks, Pharika’s Cures for the Aggro decks.

I don’t know if this is the real answer. I have plenty of options, but I’m not feeling confident about any of them. Also, there’s a Pro Tour this weekend, which is definitely going to affect the choices of other players, so I should be metagaming at least somewhat.
