So, those of us who are not Finnish might require a bit of an explanation on what sisu is. You’ll find a lot of different definitions, but they all seem to miss the point. Sure, sisu is about perseverance, but its not only that. Its finding the solution, no matter what.

Parhaat Kirjastokino-elokuvat
Päivitys: Kirjastokino on kuolemassa.
Must-See Movies (Spoiler: there are none)
This doesn’t only apply to movies, but also books, comics, music, museums, whatever… any kind of media basically.
Very slight and meaningless spoilers.
I Don’t Know What to Expect from James Gunn’s DCEU
So, James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over the franchise for Warner. They have already killed projects and announced that they will be announcing something during January (isn’t it fun that we get these announcements for announcements?). I definitely wasn’t a fan of Snyder’s take on DC, but I’m not sure this is a good development.
Jeanne Dielman Review
Full name Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du commerce, 1080 Bruxelles. The triviality of the name is important.
Violent Night and Classism
The trailer was weird. The idea seemed fun, but even the trailer seemed like it was running out of ideas. Yet, I decided to go and see it. I guess there jsut isn’t much to do in this town, so you take what you can to get out every once in a while.
Spoilers on a movie you shouldn’t care to see.
The Weird Phenomenon of Terrifier 2
I went to see this on Friday and I still feel the need to write about it.
Best Movies of 2022 – First Attempt
Once again, I’m trying to make a top 10 list while I still haven’t seen plenty of the movies I would like to see from this year.
Thoughts on After Yang
After having been released originally at Cannes last year, After Yang finally reached my shores (meaning my local art house theatre) yesterday. If nothing else, it made me think and that is always a good sign. Now, this isn’t really a review even if that side will seep in here and there. This is more about a different approach and expectations regarding movies.
“What kind of movies do you like?”
That’s a common question I get after people find out that I watch a lot of movies. And sure, it’s just small talk, but on the other hand, I am from Finland and I don’t do small talk. Unless there’s a pragmatic intent, every discussion is either a matter of life and death or at least aimed at gaining a new insight into the nature of reality, so let me dwell on the answer way too much than would be appropriate.
