Shadows over Innistrad Mechanical Flavor Hits

Okay, so [scryfall]Archangel Avacyn[/scryfall] is pretty a pretty clear hit. She’s everywhere, when you need her to be and she’s always protecting her flock. Then, she flips and burns all the sinners. This is a great accomplishment flavorwise. The mechanics tell the whole story.

But what else…

First, I should note that I haven’t read any of the Magic stories regarding the set, so this is simply about the cards themselves and how the mechanics feel. There’s plenty of good stuff here, but I’ll write about my favorites here.

Sigarda seems to be the one angel left, who hasn’t lost her mind. While other angels rampage, she still protects the humans, keeping them hidden from her kind. Not only that, but she keeps the people from falling into delirium. How cool is that? You might not want that most of the time, but its still cool.

Power corrupts. And once you are powerful, people flock to you to bask in that power, to get their piece of the pie.

We see this today in social media. People go wild because of some unsubstantiated or wildly exaggerated story and do stupid things.

I don’t know what is going on in the Drownyard, but it can’t be good. This is what’s behind all those weird exposition characters in certain kind of horror. They’ve learned a lot, but at the same time, the whole thing messed with their minds and probably caused delirium.

Kind of self-explanatory. The witch curses you and you can never get rid of it. Your death isn’t going to be fast either. I drained someone out of 12 life with this in the prerelease.

These things aren’t easy and those potions need plenty of hard to get ingredients.
