Yargle, Glutton of Urborg is an interesting case. MaRo has communicated to us that it’s more or less a joke. Something they put in Dominaria just to have vanilla legend in there.
However, it is quite unique. How many legendary creatures with such a high power with that mana do you have? Actually, only one bests our little frog spirit: Lord of Tresserhorn
One of the cards leaked in Dominaria Release Notes was this:
Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive
Legendary Creature — Human Rogue
Creatures you control with power or toughness 1 or less can’t be blocked.
My favorite tribe: Wizards. Not very supported one in general, but here’s one:
Naban, Dean of Iteration
Legendary Creature — Human Wizard
If a Wizard entering the battlefield under your control causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time.
Why have anything to cast in your library, if you have other players’ libraries to work with.
I’ve been silent here for a while (okay, about two weeks, but that’s quite a bit for me). The reason is that I decided to use my summer holiday (as a teacher, an extended one) to write a book on Commander.
Black and blue are my favorite colors, but for the longest time, I’ve had trouble finding commanders from that combination. Sure, there’s 24 previous ones, but most of them just don’t feel like good commanders. Well, fun commanders. The last of Bolas’s secret weapons, The Scarab God, just might work.
I’m still basically holding out for a great blue-black commander, but meanwhile, let’s look at what we can do with this guy.
Apparently there is finally a monoblue legendary sphinx that’s worth playing (sorry, Alhammarret, High Arbiter, but you really aren’t worth playing in EDH).
Let’s do something with it.
