Magic Origins Brews, pt. 9 – Relic Seeker

Well, I have to do it sooner or later…

The immediate instinct of many players is that to make this work, you need a deck full of equipment. This is actually wrong. With this card, you need only a few pieces of equipment and some bodies to carry them. Having something to help this guy through would be nice as well.

I’ve been pushing this off, because I was waiting for a worthwhile piece of equipment to manifest from Magic Origins, but that hasn’t happened. On the other hand, finding an equipment is always a bonus, even if that equipment isn’t very good. Perhaps Veteran’s Sidearm is the way to go.

However, there is a few other interesting pieces of equipment from the past sets.

These bring different possibilities, but lets go with Hero’s Blade first.

[deck title=Mardu Legends]
[creatures]
4 Relic Seeker
4 Bloodsoaked Champion
2 Tymaret, the Murder King
3 Alesha, Who Smiles At Death
3 Zurgo Bellstriker
3 Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit
3 Brimaz, King of Oreskos
2 Kolaghan, the Storm’s Fury
1 Zurgo Helmsmasher
[/creatures]
[spells]
1 Godsend
4 Hero’s Blade
4 Murderous Cut
[/spells]
[lands]
4 Nomad Outpost
2 Mana Confluence
4 Caves of Koilos
4 Battlefield Forge
2 Temple of Triumph
2 Temple of Silence
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Swamp
2 Mountain
[/lands]
[/deck]

Here’s another with Morphs:

[deck title=GW Morphs]
[creatures]
4 Relic Seeker
4 Den Protector
4 Deathmist Raptor
2 Rattleclaw Mystic
4 Hidden Dragonslayer
1 Aven Sunstriker
1 Hooded Hydra
1 Master of Pearls
1 Pine Walker
[/creatures]
[spells]
4 Obscuring Aether
2 Trail of Mystery
4 Ghostfire Blade
1 Heart-Piercer Bow
3 Valorous Stance
[/spells]
[lands]
4 Temple of Plenty
4 Windswept Heath
4 Blossoming Sands
6 Forest
6 Plains
[/lands]
[/deck]

Why the Bow? Because it works well with [scryfall]Deathmist Raptor[/scryfall].

  1. How does heart-piercer bow work well with deathmist raptor? I’m not seeing the correlation.

    • Oh, yeah, you are right. I remembered the wording wrong. For some reason I assumed the attacking creature dealt the damage.
