Magic Origins Brews, pt. 1 – Chandra

Chandra seems interesting. The format currently has plenty of lifegain, so Chandra is probably easy to hate out, but at the same time, this new Chandra probably gives you the ability to fight through it.

Of course this is going to be quite a bit off from the efficiency of the Modern and Legacy burn decks, but I think there’s something we can work with here.

This deck is going to be very much a deck that isn’t interested in sitting back, but is completely in on pushing damage through early and then killing the opponent with the Chandra. Playing four Chandra’s is pretty risky, but it might be more or less mandatory in this deck. I don’t really know about the green splash. It might not be needed, but its there.

[deck title=Chandra Burn]
[creatures]
4 Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh
4 Monastery Swiftspear
3 Zurgo Bellstriker
4 Lightning Berserker
[/creatures]
[spells]
4 Wild Slash
4 Atarka’s Command
4 Lightning Strike
3 Crowd’s Favor
2 Rouse the Mob
4 Titan’s Strength
1 Break Through the Line
[/spells]
[lands]
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Mana Confluence
1 Forest
14 Mountain
[/lands]
[/deck]

A lot of experimental cards in the deck. Is [scryfall]Crowd’s Favor[/scryfall] really the way to go? I don’t know, but it would be nice to attack with Chandra, use Favor on her, untap, ping opponent for one, and then flip her right after dealing the First Strike damage.

There’s plenty of other ways this could go. Maybe lose the Commands and put in [scryfall]Magma Jet[/scryfall] instead. Would [scryfall]Stoke the Flames[/scryfall] work here? How about [scryfall]Satyr Hoplite[/scryfall]? There’s plenty of ways to target it, so it could be better than Zurgo or the Berserker.
